Nikki's Story
Hi, I’m Nikki, a registered dietitian with a passion for helping people take control of their kidney health through simple, practical nutrition strategies. I'm currently practicing as a dietitian in a hospital renal program. Over the years, I've worked with patients in various stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD), including pre-dialysis, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and inpatient care. My experience in these settings has shown me how overwhelming kidney nutrition can feel and how much of a difference the right guidance can make.
I began to notice a gap in nutrition care for CKD patients who don't meet the criteria to receive support in a hospital kidney clinic, because they are not in the later stages of CKD and not yet on dialysis. But why should you wait for the disease to progress before making lifestyle changes? My goal is to fill the gap in preventative care by supporting people in earlier stages of CKD or those at risk due to other health conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes. I specialize in helping clients navigate the confusing world of kidney nutrition and create personalized plans to preserve kidney health and improve overall well-being. On a personal note, my journey into healthcare was inspired by caring for my grandmother when she was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). At the time, I was only 13 years old and I could not have done it without the help of a very dedicated renal care team. Supporting her through her peritoneal dialysis taught me the challenges patients and families face and the importance of compassionate, expert care. This experience drives my commitment to helping others protect their kidney health and live better lives. |

Philosophy
Food brings joy. At the basic level, food is a source of fuel that gives us the energy to live, work, and play. Food is also social, when we gather to break bread with our loved ones, and form new ties with those around us. Food is emotional, when parents feed their children, or when a meal brings you comfort and makes you feel at home.
Sadly, we live within a pervasive culture of dieting and quick fixes that has damaged the relationship with food for many of us. Many dietary approaches often focus on expensive food sensitivity testing lacking evidence, unnecessary food elimination, ingesting pills and supplements that promise a "miracle" cure for good health. With this, we lose sight of what's food means for us and our well-being.
With health and long-term sustainability being the core of my service, my hope is to improve your health, alleviate your stress around eating, and restore your relationship with food.
